A timelapse project running for months on solar panels, in remote locations. A smaller version.
1 lithium-ion battery 3.7V – 1000mAh
1W – 6V amorph solar panel
LIPO lithium charger from SeedStudio
ATtiny 85 @ 1MHz-3.7V internal oscillator
Futaba S3001 @3.7V
CHDK on Canon Powershot A1300 : take picture on power-on and auto power-down (« shootAndDie script »)
Bright blue del for time before shoot indication
Photo resistor to allow shooting only if luminosity is high enough
No relay / no linear DC/DC conversion / watchdog timeout for delay > low power

The (minimized) board : 2 pins-connector goes to 3.7V battery and 3 pins-connector goes to micro-servo that power on the camera (and CHDK program take the picture before switching off automatically by software)

Detail of the phototransistor that check if light level is enough before switching on the camera + the blue led that gives a micro-impulse (visible during day light but not too strong so that it will not be visible from large distances at night) giving the time remaining before shooting

Second version based on arduino nano and without micro-servo :

The board + phototransistor (no servo here : the power button is pushed on all the time and I power the camera directly via the (wooden!) batteries
